CHURCH ARMY
Work Of Evangelists A recently-taken film, part of which was in colour, was shown by the field secretary. Captain S. R. Banyard, at a meeting of the Church Army executive in Auckland this week. The Primate of New Zealand, Archbishop Averill, presided. The film revealed the work being done by whole-time evangelists in Public Works Department railway camps,’ including a newly-built came church; the work of the caravans, one excellent scene being of the Waiapu van in an afforestation camp, and the work in the military training school, parishes, and among Maoris. Captain Banyard also reported that four religious films would be ready in February for showing in churches and halls. The whole of the Church of England evensong could be shown on the screen by the use of lantern slides and the film used in place of a sermon. Mr. M. Hart and Mr. Andrew Pinwill, both of Christchurch, have been accepted for training. The erection of cubicles in a large dormitory at the headquarters for the use of the men students has been completed.
