After a lengthy discussion the following resolution was carried unanimously: "After having heard the arguments advanced by the representatives of the board and the answers to questions, this meeting is deddedely of the opinion that, the disestablishment of the secondary department at Foxton would be a retrograde step for the following reasons: (1) All Ihc children conveyed by buses would be away from home for at. least one hour extra each day; (2) the secondary pupils would have no opportunity for sport activities before and after school; (3) with the exception of one or two pupils at the most, the present, facilities provide satisfactorily for the needs of the district: CD that the building ami equipment at present in use are ipiite suitable fur Hie increase ami extension of courses th,-it may lie required IToni time to time; tsl that the present building would have to bo dosed and valuable assets thus wasted should de-eslnblishuient eventuate. . "In the opinion of this meeting a more positive and logical step to take would be to explore the possibilities id' extemling tiie scope of instruction so that individual needs may be more fully provi<led for.”
