LABOUR PARTY WOMEN MEMBERS
Social Gathering Held
There were representatives of more than 12 Labour Party branches present at the “break-up” social afternoon of the Wellington women's branch on Wednesday. It was a happy thought, on the part of members to invite the women of other branches to be present, and the opportunity of meeting one another was taken advantage of fully. Excellent. music and a most enjoyable afternoon tea added to the pleasure of the afternoon. Vocal solos were given by Mesdames Corkhill (Petone), T. Logie (Lower Hutt), Hartley and Treacy, of the women’s branch. Mrs. Rae (Petone) gave elocutionary items and Mesdames Boyd and London played the accompaniments. Among those present were Mrs. P. Fraser, Mrs. Stewart, M.P., and Mrs. R. MeKeen. Mrs. Stewart, in a short speech, expressed her pleasure at being able to be among fellow members. Mrs. M. J. Bentley, on behalf of the branch, thanked those who had assisted. The afternoon concluded with tire singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and expressions of goodwill.
