DUAL VOTING ALLEGED

Labourer Commited For Trial By Telegraph—Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, December 8. Arising out of his conduct on the day of the general election, a New Plymouth elector, Bercy Alim, labourer, appeared in tlie Magistrates’ Court to-day charged with dual voting. He pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial. Accused, in a statement to the police, said that he was drinking heavily all the day before the election and again on the morning of election day and he had no recollection of voting twice or whether he had voted at all. The returning officer gave evidence that votes in Allen’s name were recorded at two booths, and this evidence was supported by that of the polling clerks.
