STOCKS AND SHARES
Wellington Market Quiet AUSTRALIANS FIRMER A feature of the stock and share market yesterday was a firming in Australian issues. This was due, doubtless, to the imposition of exchange control tending to make buying in Australia on New Zealand account difficult. Business in Wellington was slack, but sales of a number of Australian shares in Auckland and Christchurch were reported at higher rates. On the Wellington Stock Exchange Imperial Chemicals (pref.) and G. J. Coles and Woolworths had dealings at advanced prices. Sales recorded yesterday on the Wellington Stock Exchange were as follows:—
