Vehicle Driven Without Due Care By Telegraph—Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH. December 8 The extreme step of cancelling a man's driving licence for the offence of operating a motor-vehicle without due care was taken in the Magistrates’ Court, Stratford, today by Mr. W. 11. Woodward, SAI., when he disqualified W. It. Mason, farmer, Kahouri Hoad. Ngaere, from holding a licence for a month and fined him the maximum penalty of £-1. It was the tirst time that a licence bad been cancelled lor such an offence in. Taranaki. The case was described by Sergeant Anuiss as very serious. He said that just: after 5 p.m. on November 18 a 'post and Telegraph Department lorry was returning to Stratford through excavation works when the driver saw a car approaching him at an excessive speed. He [ml the lorry right up against the bank Io avoid a collision, but Mason's car did not slacken speed and hit the side of the lorry, careered on for 150 feet and overturned. The speed of Mason's ear was estimated to be 45 miles an hour.
