The belief that reasonable residential settlement in selected areas in the Waitakere Ranges should be encouraged was expressed in a report dealing with the proposed 'Waitakere National Park read at the meeting of the Metropolitan Centennial Executive, Auckland, this week. It was stated that in return for the great benefit owners and residents would receive from the scenic drive and the creation of the park, no objection should bo taken to the introduction of Government regulations for the purpose of strictly controlling the nature-of all buildings to be erected, so as to conserve the charm and attraction of the mountains for all time.
