Basketball Dance At Waipukurau

An appreciable sum will be available for the expenses of a touring team as a result of a dance arranged by the Waipukurau Basketball 'Club and held in the Waipukurau Masonic Hall on 'Tuesday night. The dance was for the purpose of raising funds for sending a representative team on tour to Rotorua, and there was a gratifying attendance from all parts, of the district. despite stormy weather. Popular music was provided by an excellent orchestra, and Mr. S. Thomson and Mr. P. Smith acted as masters of ceremonies. Preliminary arrangements were carried out by the club’s secretary, Miss Joan McCarthy. Demonstrations were given during the evening, tlie modern quick-step by Miss D. Noble and Mr. L. Morton, and a solo tap by Ilinei Kuru.

A large committee of those interested nt Red Cross aelivities met in the society’s rooms last night to discuss preliminary arrangements for a ball, which is to be the grand finale to their ■ .’inter season.
