Not long ago a conductor on a Wellington tram received a bright coin which looked exactly like a newly-minted New Zealand shilling, and did not hesitate to accept it in the after-theatre rush. On going through his cash he sorted out the shining specimen and found that it was a shilling ,but not a New Zealand one. It was a Fijian coin, equivalent to the New Zealand shilling. The head side was similar to the New Zealand shilling. but the tail side was adorned with a graceful native sailing craft. As the coin was unusual he promptly bought it as a curio.
