Keen interest is being taken in the appearance nt the AVellingion Oner." House on AVednesdny of Mr. Billv Costello, of Max Fleischer's Popeye the Snilornuin cartoon fame. On the day of his opening night in'’Auckland Air. Costello paraded the streets in his regalia and fully 15.000 people endeavoured to obtain a glimpse of him in Queen Street, where the traffic was completely held up for over an hour. Although Air. Costello is a whole entertainment in. himself, Mr. Frank Neil has surrounded him with a strong array of international revue and vaudeville stars. There is Sid Page, one of New York’s popular comedians, assisted bv Miss Peggv Earle and Aliss Ruth Radio, the first a delightful soubrotte and the la.tter a brilliantly clever eccentric dancer. Thon there is the Elite Trio, whose graceful ballroom adagio dancing, interspersed with brilliant flashes of burlesque movements, created a furore in Auckland. A popular' London musical ball comedian. Air. Joey Porter, and Horric Dargie, harmonica player. also appear. Other items are given by Billy Rayos, the Kermonde Bros., the Ritchie Bros.. Kay Znmmit. a charming soprano. Betty Lambert, an Australian comedienne, and many other artists, also Frank Neil's Tivoli Ballet. The scenery, dressing and mounting are features of "Hello Popeye."
