STREET BEAUTIFICATION SCHEME BEGUN

A start has been made on a modest scale with a street beautification scheme at Upper Hutt. Twenty chains of the Whiteman’s Valley Road have been planted with flowering cherry trees by Dr. 11. P. Pickerin and Mrs. i ickerill, who are giving further trees to enable the planting to be extended to Chatsworth Road. Thirty flowering apple trees have been planted in Sutherland Avenue, and 30 silver birch in Martin Street., Some residents have offered to plant trees in the streets in which they live and flowering cherries are to be planted in ParkStreet facing Maidstone Park.
