LITTLE COMPETITION FOR INDIANS

Dannevirke Hockey Team Beaten 11-1 By Telegraph—Press Association. Dannevirke, August 9. Though Dannevirke scored the first goal there was little element of competition in the match with the Prince of Manavadar’s hockey team to-day. In dry conditions and on a good ground the Indians were at home and masters of . the situation all the time. They scored 11 goals to their opponents’ one. The brilliant play of Shahabuddm, the right wing, particularly appealed to the crowd. His speed down the sideline and perfect control made openings for several goals and he scored the last three himself. Though not all up to this standard, the other Indians -were too good for their opponents. In between spells of attack the forwards reste'd while the backs held off the Dannevirke attack with perfectconfidence. G. Robinson, centre forward, scored Dannevirke’s goal from a centring hit by N Robinson, the right wing and captain, who was the outstanding forward on the Dannevirke side. The score was four-one at half-time, Sultan Khan having obtained two and Feroz Khan and Hussain one each. Latif and Feroz Khan scored in quick succession early in the second halt and four goals, one by Feroz Khan and three by Shahabuddin, were packed into the last quarter.
