Wellington Trading Quiet

SOME INDUSTRIALS FIRMER

Business was (lull on the \Vel ingto Stock Exchange yesterday, and a limited volume of trading was recorded. Inces paid for the shares dealt in were generally firm. Government loans remained quiet and easy, the only dealings reported being two small parcels, one of 4 pet cent, stock, 1946-49. at flOl/10/-. and the other of 4 per cent, stock, 1943-46, at £lO2. „ , . There was a good inquiry tor banks, but quotations showed some unevenness. Australasias were firmer at £l9/12/6. sellers asking £lO/18/6. Commercial of Australia so]d a penny up at It/I, and New South Wales. unchanged at £3l/7/-. E.S. and A. Bank eased to buyers at "£o 1/-. and National of Australasia £lO paid were easier at £l3/7/6. Now Zealands were quoted at 43/2, sellers 43/6. and sellers of National of New Zealand asked 52/6. Unions were steady at £8 10/6. sellers £B/11/6. Goldsbrough Morts firmed to 28/6, sellers 29/3. ' Thgre was a limited demand for nidustrials. Carlton Brewery advanced to 67/-. sellers 67/9. British 'Tobaccos moved up to sales at 49/74, and Felt and Textiles firmed to business at 34/u. Colonial Sugars were stronger at £4B/15/-, sellers £49/5/-. Metals issues were unwanted, except Electrolytic Zinc., preference, for which 47/3 was offering.
