ROYAL SHOW
Winter Show Grounds Suggested As Site
The Royal Show would never be the success it should be until it bad a permanent home in the most accessible part of the Dominion, said the manager of the Wellington Show Associaion, Mr. G. Mitchell, at the week-end. Quite apart from personal feelings, in the matter, Wellington was undoubtedly that centre, its geographical position making it by far the most, accessible site.
“The question of suitable grounds presents the big difficulty,” said Mr. Mitchell. “The ground must be one upon which permanent buildings can be erected and it must be accessible to exhibitors and the public. Such grounds are most difficult to'find. and, while I admit that our show grounds and buildings are not ideal for a large Royal Show, they do offer an accessible, central position for exhibitors and public; they have large buildings for housing stock and a show-ring which has proved ideal for the purpose. Further facilities and conveniences could be made, and I am convinced that, in all the circumstances, they offer by far the best proposition for the Royal Show.”
