STRIKE THREAT IN QUEENSLAND
Fines On Railwaymen
Brisbane, July 7.
A serious railway strike is threatened in Queensland owing to the intention of the Minister of Railways to impose fines on three railwaymen for attending a stop-work meeting. A vote will be taken on Sunday to decide whether a general strike shall be precipitated. This would probably involve New South Wales.
A large percentage of railway employees in Queensland are opposed to direct action.
