TRAINING PILOTS IN CANADA.
Proposal To Assist Britain OFFICER TO BE SENT TO INVESTIGATE (Received July 8, 8.30 p.m.) Rugby, July 7. Mr. Attlee, Leader of the Opposition, asked Sir Kingsley-Wood, Secretary for Air, in the House of Commons to-day, whether his attention had been drawn to the statement of Mr. MackenzieKing, Premier of Canada, that Canada was prepared in connection with its own establishments, to help in affording facilities for the training of pilots for the Royal Air Force if that would be of service to the Minister. Sir Kingsley-Wood replied that an offer to that effect had been sent to Britain, and a reply sent expressing appreciation, and stating that arrangements were being made in accordance with Mr. Mackenzie-King’s suggestion for an officer to be sent immediately to Canada to explore, in co-operation with the Canadian Government, the possibility of working out such a scheme for the training of pilots in the Dominion.
