Mr. G. F. Deighton returned to Auckland from Wellington yesterday by air. Mr. A. S. Elworthy returned south by the steamer express last night. Mr. Alan J. Tillick, Wellington, is visiting Palmerston North. Dr. T. J- W. Johnson, chairman of the Medical Research Council, has returned to Auckland. ’

Mr. C. F. Hartland, Christchurch, was a passenger by the steamer express to the south last night. Mr. D. Mainwaring arrived at Wellington yesterday by the steamer express from the south. Mr. 11. E. Shields, Christchurch, arrived’at Wellington by the steamer express yesterday.. Mr. 11. S. E. Turner, Christchurch, arrived at Wellington yesterday and returned south by the steamer express last night.

Mr. J. F. Downey has been appointed a member of the Board of Examiners under the Mining Act for a period of three years.

Mr. D. R. Porter (Wellington) has been granted a transfer to the status of public accountant (A.P.A.N.Z.) -in the New Zealand Society of Accountants.

Mr. A. W. Nisbet, secretary of the Wellington Manufacturers’ Association, is visiting Christchurch for the Conciliation Council hearing of the Dominion confectionery workers’ dispute. The Rev. J. R. Blanchard, of St. John’s Church, will leave Wellington this morning for New Plymouth, where h<? will conduct the seventy-fifth anniversary services of St. zkndrew’s Church to-morrow.

The Rev. 11. S. Kenney, vicar of St Augustine’s Church, Petone, left Wellington by the Limited express last night for Auckland, where, as Dominion president of the zknglican Bible Class Union, he will conduct several special services and meetings. Messrs. L. N. Cording, I. T. G. Johnstone, W. A. Sutherland, and R. D. Webb (Wellington), K. B. Longmore (Lower Hutt), and S. 11. Telford (Palmerston North), who have passed the necessary examinations, have been ad. mitted to membership of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, with the status of A.R.A.N.Z. (associate registered accountant).

Mr. J. T. Mills, a director, and for the last few years manager, of the Auckland branch of the Goldberg Advertising Agency, Ltd., lias resigned his position. The staff made him a farewell presentation on Tuesday. Speakers mentioned his fine qualities and service to the firm. Mr. L. N. Philip, of the head ’office stall’, lias been transferred to Auckland to take the position vacated by Mr. Mills, and begins his duties on Monday, July 11.

The Rev. John Gilkison, of the Lower Hutt Congregational Church, who was ordained in March of this year, has accepted a call from the London Missionary Society for labour in the missionary field. lie is to leave for Sydney toward the end of the present month, and, after a period of preparation there, will go to Papua. The Rev. B. T. Butchers, of the London Missionary Society, who has retired after 35 years’ work in Papua, is coming to New Zealand shortly. He will preach at the Cambridge Street Congregational Church on Sunday, July 17. Mr. Gilkison will be succeeded at Lower Hutt by the Rev. Mr. Bell, Gore.
