A PLEASANT DISTRICT

Off the beaten track in Central Hawke’s Bay lies a pleasant, fertile district, that of Ruataniwlia. Situated between Onga Onga and Waipawa, the country here looks good. Its apfiearance is a welcome change after the miles of light, stony country lying to the west. What a lot of that stony ground there is in Central Hawke's Bay; one is reminded by it of Canterbury. About Ruataniwlia chou niouiller crops were a feature. There were also some fine draught horses. One team of four were turned out and covered. It was pleasing to* see good working horses well treated. Then a half-mile on, several marcs with foals were grazing on a hillock, a most pleasant sight. Topdressing is evidently here appreciated, for no less than three big lorry loads were passed in short order.
