THE S.P.C.A.

Ladies' Auxiliary Meets A meeting of the ladies’ auxiliary of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was held recently. The resignation of the president, Miss M. F. Maltby, was accepted with regret, Mrs. E. M. Clark being appointed to the vacant position. An executive committee was formed, as follows:—Hon. secretary, Mrs. W. B. Bennett, 172 Ohiro Road, Brooklyn; hon. treasurer, Miss Robson, Blshopscourt, Wellington; committee, Miss L. Bennett, Mrs. Connors, Mrs. Forsyth, Mrs. Hunt. The aim of the ladies’ auxiliary of the S.P.C.A- is to raise funds to purchase a blue cross ambulance, and to provide a clinic for the city of Wellington, for the use of sick and injured animals, as a special effort for the centenary celebrations. It was decided that the’ first effort of this committee should take the form of a jumble sale, to be held on June 11 in the Methodist Church schoolroom, Webb Street. Particulars of this and further activities will.be advertised later, and the committee feels confident that those who are animal lovers will welcome, and support the efforts that are being made to enable the S.P.C.A. to purchase equipment necessary for the work of ameliorating the sufferings of dumb friends.
