Described as an organised gang of Wellington youths by Detective J. Murray. David Ross, aged 10, Eric Albert Collins, aged 18. Albert Edward Morris, aged 18, and Robert Walter Page, aged IS, were charged before Mr. ,1. 11. Salmond, S.M.. with converting a car to their own use at llawera. Collins, Morris ami. Page wore committed to a Borstal institution for three years, ami Ross to the care of the welfare officer for two years.

It was stated that defendants con verted a ear at Wellington on Saturday night, drove to Wanganui, and then to llawera. where they converted a second car. They had a jemmy in' the car. also nails flattened to operate car switches, and a piece of rubber tubing loaded at one end with solder. A letter found in the possession of one defendant suggested that: he do a “job" at Maslerlon.
