YESTERDAY’S WEATHER

Wellington.— Cool but fine, with a light ’ northerly breeze. The minimum temperature on Sunday night was 47.4 deg., and the maximum yesterday sb.9deg. At 3 p.m. the temperature was o4.9deg. and the barometer reading 29.826 in. Palmerston North. — Beautifully fine, sunny and windless all day, but chilly toward dusk. . Masterton. — Clear sunny morning atter a frost of seven degrees. Cloudy in, afternoon and cool.. Light westerly wind. Wanganui.— Beautiful find .day, yd* l bright sunshine and light winds. 'Smooth seas. The barometer reading was 28.89 in. New Plymouth.—Bright sunshine m the morning and overcast and with passing clouds, a cooler temperature and a light southerly breeze in the afternoon. The barometer at 5 p.m. was 29.90 in. Waipukurau.— Dull and overcast day but fine throughout. Cool temperature. Napier and Hastings.— Fine but overcast, with a light south-west breeze. Auckland.— The morning was sunny and clear, with a light southerly wind. In the afternoon the wind freshened and the.skies became cloudy. The maximum temperature was 64deg. Barometric pressure was steady with a . reading at 5 p.m. of 29.90 in. Christchurch.— After a frost of eight degrees the day was fine and sunny. A very light north-east breeze prevailed. The maximum temperature was 54deg, The barometer fell to 29.79 in. at 5 p.m. Dunedin.— The weather to-day was fine and calm, with bright sunshine until the middle of the afternoon. The temperature in the early morning was exceptionally cold, reaching a minimum of 38deg., the lowest recorded since’last October. The maximum for the day was 63deg. The barometer fell overnight and continued to fall during the morning and late in the afternoon rain commenced, becoming heavy after dark. The barometer reading in the eveningwas 29.87 in. and the barometer was then rising.
