WEDDING
Derhom —Harper The wedding took place at St. Mary’s Church. Otaki, on a recent evening of Mary Dorothea (Dora), elder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Harper. Otaki, and Henry, only son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Derliam, Te Horo. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Venning. The bride who was escorted by her father, wore a charming frock of white satin faconne with satin leaf embossed design cut on classical lines, with long sleeves finished with covered buttons at the wrists. The back fell into a graceful train. Her veil of Honiton lace, a family heirloom., was worn off the face and fell from a topknot of orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of white roses and lilies. The four bridesmaids, Miss Monica Harper. Mrs. Brian Rawson. Auckland, Miss Margaret Prior and Miss Gretchen Wills, were in frocks of turquoise blue Persian lamb taffeta, slightly trained and made with bolero coatees. Their head-dresses were turquoise blue eye veils surmounted by silver top-knots, and their bouquets were of pink carnations and rosebuds. Mr. J. Wilson, Waikanae, was best man, and the ushers were Messrs. Stavely Ellis. Wanganui. B. Ryder and T. A. Harper. Later Mr. and Mrs. Harper entertained more than 200 guests at reception and dance. Mrs. Harper receiving in a frock of peacock blue erepe faconne, relieved with aprieot flowers. She carried a bouquet of roses. 'l'be bridegroom’s mother wore midnight blue velvet, with cyclamen flowers, and carried a posy to tone. When Mr. and Mrs. Henry Derham left for their honeymoon, en route io America, the bride was wearing a Viennese suit of moonlight blue featherweight Angora, with hat and accessories to match.
