ANNUAL MEETING
Women's Study Circle T?lie president, Mrs. /Lineker, Wils in the chair at the well-attended annual meeting of the Woqien’s Study Circle, held last week, and reported that the session had been most happy and instructive, with good speakers. The circle’s efforts in particular bad l»een excellent. In the election of officers. Mrs. Bosher (according to rule) moved from the office of vice-president to that of president. Mrs. Mitchel was elected vice-president, Mrs. Scott treasurer, Mrs. Graham minute secretary and Mrs. MacGlashen Smith corresponding secretary. ' Mrs. Bosher congratulated the circle on the honour it had received in having one of its foundation members (Airs. Stewart) .selected by the Labour Barty to stand for Parliamentary honours.
Mrs. Stewart replied, thanking the members for their kind thoughts. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Chapman, Mrs. Outhwaite and Mrs. Scott, who had compiled the syllabus, and to Mrs. Prince, who had typed the copies. A vote of thanks was pased to the retiring officers, 'Mrs. Lineker and Mrs. Marr. The members of the circle gave an afternoon party at the D.I.C. to Mrs. Mitchel, a foundation member, who is Heaving for a six. mouths' lour. Thirty-three members were present. Mrs. Lineker spoke of the many good qualities Mrs. Mitchel possessed, and said a hearty welcome would await her when she returned. Mrs. Bailey, on behalf of the members, presented her with a pigskin escritoire. Mrs. Mitchel suitably replied. Musical Afternoon A pleasant afternoon was spent yesterday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Bennie in Mount Street, when a party was given for Mr. and Mrs. W. Dearden'Jackson, who recently arrived in New Zealand from England. About -10 guests were present, all gathering in the cosy rooms, in which bright fires added cheer to the scene. Afternoon tea was served in the diningroom, where bowls of floating chrysanthemum heads and other autumn flowers wore attractively arranged. Mrs. Bennie welcomed the visitors and items were given by Miss Marjorie Bennie, Mr. Dearden Jackson and Mr. Leon de Mauny. Among those present were: Lady Statham, Lady Pomare, Signora Vilali, Mr. and Madame de Mauny, Mesdaines Sprott, Knox Gilmer, C. E. Critchley, Menzies, E. T. Porter, D. Rands, R. D. Oliver, W. A. Armour, Erreld Martin, J. A. Gunter. A. Gillies. Findlay, E. IV. Coleridge, F. Pope, O. C. Mazengarb, C. A. Rendle, Stanhope, Dawson, Gibson. Foster. E. T. Spidy, Ina Stevens. B. Van Stavern. E. D. Good. A. Lawson, E. A. R. Jones, and Miss Mary Stuart.
