SATISFACTORY YEAR
North Wairarapa Building Socy. The North Wairarapa Permanent Building and Investment Society, of Masterton, has declared a final dividend for the half-year to March 31, 1938, at the rate of G per cent, per annum, payable on May 29 next. An interim dividend was paid at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum, thus making an unchanged rate for the year of 5i per cent, per annum. During the year a further 19 'oans were granted, amounting to £8691. Loans on first mortgage now total £27,605 10/1. while progress payments not yet due for payment amount to £2375. Share capital showed a further increase of £2(166 in “A" capital shares and £3lB in “B” investment shares. Deposits with the society at 3} per cent, and 4 per cent, interest remain unaltered at £1760. The profit and loss account shows a very satisfactory increase on the previous year. A feature of the accounts which the directors regard as gratifying is that for the sixth year in succession there are no repayments outstanding nor interest owing on any of the seventy loans granted by the society.
