Citizens’ Ticket v. Labour At Lower Hutt EASTBOURNE WOMAN AS MAYORAL CANDIDATE There will be a straight-out contest between Citizens’ and Labour tickets in the Lower Hutt Borough Council election, nominations for which closed yesterday. At Eastbourne a precedent in municipal elections has been set by the nomination for the mayoralty of Miss M. E. Magill, chairman of the finance committee of the council, member of the National Road Safety Council and a prominent educationist, who is opposed to the sitting mayor, Mr. E. W. Wise. Petoue has three candidates, the sitting mayor, Mr. A. Scholefield, Mr. D. M. Dickson, a sitting councillor, aud Mr. G. London, annother sitting councillor who is a son ot a former mayor.
