Stableford On Hutt Links G. P. ROBERTS TN FORM A stableford competition on the Hutt links on Saturday was won by G. I’. Roberts, with the exceptionally good card of 38-2-40. Though the course was heavy Roberts did the round in 72, two strokes under bogey, his card reading:—Out: 34 1444445—36 In : 433545351—36 His handicap has been reduced to.one. Next came M. T. McLean, 19-17-36; W. G. Horne, 34-scr.-34; L. Monkman, 19-12-31; E. S. Thomson, 23-8-31; D. L. Irwin, 21-9-30. A bogey competition on Sunday morning was -won by C. H. Matthews (18), who finished 1 up. Next came W. K. Cook (2), all square; H. J. I’orter (11), 2 down; 11. B. Craighead (10), 3 down; F. J. Ansell (11), 4 down. Redward and H. Cathie, with 4 up. R. Gray and N. Jacobson and J. Schierning and G. Radford finished 2 up. The teams to represent Judgeford in Bustin Cup matches next week-end will be announced later. Rangimarie Club The best cards returned in the qualifying rounds for the captain’s trophy on the Rangimarie links on Sunday were:— Seniors: N. Johnston, 85-13-72; V. Bradley, 89-16-73; S. Manor Park Ladies’ Club A flag match played by the Manor Park Ladies’ Club on Saturday saw a tie be-tw-een Miss McGrath and Miss Dennehy, who both planted the flag in the seventeenth hole. A fourball best-ball bogey competition on Sunday was won by Mrs. Bilderbeck and Mrs. Marshall, with 3 down. A bogey event on Sunday afternoon was won by Miss Taylor, who finished all square. In the Yankee fourball ’ competition, Miss.McColl and Miss Black beat Miss Davidson and Miss Murphy, 1 up; Miss Howe and Miss Dennehy beat Mrs. Bilderbeck and Miss Barry, 4 and 2; Miss McGrath and Mrs. Elsmore and Miss Yorston and Mrs. Marshall, all square. Karori Club The first contest for the Simester Mugs was held on the Karori links on Saturday, and Hain and Graham became the first holders of the trophies. A fourball bogey competition was won by Kennedy (14) and Rodgers (12), with 2 up. A fourball bogey event on Sunday was won by Bradley (18) and Davis (16) with 5 up. Barron (15) and Rodgers (11) finished 2 up. A fourball stableford on Sunday afternoon was won by K. MeKenzie (8) and D. Cooper (11), with 41 points. Batten (13) and Waters (24) scored 37 points.

Karori Ladies’ Club A stableford bogey competition placed by the Karori Ladies’ Club on Sunday saw Miss Kennedy win in the C grade, and Miss Heinemann do best in the junior grade. Manor Park Club The weather did not interfere with the competition on the Manor Park links during the week-end. The course was in surprisingly good order in spite of the recent rains, and many good cards were handed in. On Saturday, afternoon a stableford bogey competition was played, and the winners of each section scored 35 points. These players were: Senior, E. J. Moriarty (5) : ntermediate, C. Allan (9); junior, R. Dixon (20). On Sunday morning a record number of entries received for the qualifying round of The Tingey Cup, and 90 players took part in'this popular event. During the week-end a teams’ match between sides chosen by the captain aud vice-captain of the Paremata club was played, and resulted in a win for the captain’s team by a margin of one game. The results are as follows, the captain’s players being mentioned first:—Gordon beat Fisher, 2 and 1; Campbell beat Osborne, 3 and 1; Jacomb lost to Wilkie, 7 and 5; Kirkwood lost to Hardy, 6 and 4; De Lisle and Monteath, all square; SmutsKennedy beat Fleming, 6 and 5; C. A. Marris beat Lawson, 6 and 5; Phaup lost to McKinnon, 1. down; Jones beat Croft, 2 and 1; Cawthron beat E. C. Marris, 3 and 1; Perry lost to L. Young, 3 and 2; Ellingford beat Krebs, 6 and 5; Waugh lost to Penberthy, 6 and 5; L. Young lost to McNaught, 7 and 5. A combined stableford competition on Saturday morning resulted in a win for De Lisle and Smuts-Keunedy, with 27 points. The next best were E. C. Marris and Ellingford, and Krebs and Jacomb, with 25 points.

A bogey event on Sunday was won by Smuts-Kennedy, 1 down, E. I, Wilkie being 2 down. A fourball best-ball competition on Sunday afternoon was won by De Lisle and Smuts-Kennedy, 5 up, Fleming and Gordon finishing 4 up. A. Campbell beat A.
