Vice-Regal. Her Excellency Lady Galway, attended by Mrs. R. G. Byron, left Wellington yesterday for Greytown, where her Excellency formally opened the additional wards for old people which have been erected at the Greytown Hospital. In the afternoon Lady Galway opened the n6w home for nurses at Masterton. Ministerial. The Hon. F. Jones, Minister of Defence, returned to Wellington from the South Island yesterday. The Hon. H. G. R. Mason, AttorneyGeneral, left Wellington for Auckland by the limited express last night. He is to open a new courthouse at Kaeo on Monday. The Hon. Mr. Justice Ostler, who has been a patient in a private hospital for some weeks, has returned to his home. He is not yet well enough, however, to receive visitors, except by special appointment. The Hon. Adam Hamilton, Leader of the Opposition, accompanied by Mr. S. G. Holland, M.P. for Christchurch North, left Wellington for the South Island last night. Mr. Hamilton intends to stay in Invercargill for some weeks.

AV. Anderson, Wanganui, was a passenger in the steamer express which left AVellington last night for the south.

Mr. W. F. Adams, New Plymouth, was a passenger in the inter-island express which left Wellington last night for the south.

Mr. C. E. Robertson, manager of the stud stock department of Wright, Stephenson and Company, AVellington, left by train for Auckland last night.

Mr. J. A. Lee, Parliamentady Undersecretary in charge of Housing, will return to AVellington from Auckland to-day. Mr. C. E. Critchley, Australian Trade Commissioner, accompanied) by Mrs. Critchley, will return to Wellington from Auckland this morning. Mr. V. R. Meredith, Crown Prosecutor in Auckland, is in AVellington te attend a sitting of the Court of Appeal. He will return to Auckland on AVednesday. .

The Rev. J. R. Blanchard, of St. John’s Presbyterian Church, AVellington, and Mrs. Blanchard 1 , are visiting Marton, and are guests at the Maori Girls’ College.

Dr. AV. H. Simpson will leave AVellington in the Empress of Britain on April 10 for a six months’ tour which will embrace America, Britain and the Continent. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Simpson.

Mr. A. C. Mitchell, president of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, left AVellington by car for Napier yesterday afternoon on a business visit, and will return to AVellington tomorrow.

Flight Lieutenant Anthony G. Lester, oilicer-commamjing the Hobsonville air base, who suffered severe head injuries when a Tiger Moth aeroplane he was testing crashed' into the harbour near the Hobsonville wharf on February 26, has left hospital. Mr. H. 8. Vine, accountant in the Wellington branch of the Bank of New South AValcs, has received notice of his appointment as assistant, to the inspector of the city division of the bank in Sydney. Mr. Vine will be succeeded at AVellington by Mr. F. G. Robbie, accountant in the Christchurch branch of the Bank of New South Wales and formerly at Masterton and Gisborne.

Vice-Admiral J. E. T. Harper, a New Zealander who attained flag rank in the Royal Navy, will arrive at Auckland in the Tamaroa to-morrow morning. He is making his first visit to New Zealand after an absence of two years, and will leave for Australia about the end of April, afterward returning to England.
