Hospital Building

Mention was made recently in the contribution, “Hospital Building,” of Dr. J. P. Fitzgerald. I well recollect when Dr. Monteith was the medical officer of that first Wellington institution. He left it eventually and started a chemist’s shop in Manners Street. The old hospital, having served its purpose, was sold, and houses, on the opposite side of Pipitea Street, were erected with some of the material. At that time there was some comment as to whether it was a wise course to pursue.—M.M. (Greymouth).
