Further Flooding Occurs By Telegraph—Press Association. Greymouth, March 24. Over three inches of rain fell in the Grey district during the night, the third time during the week the district has had over three inches in 24 hours. Mauy further slips occurred and there was considerable flooding in the new residential portion of the borough. Sawyer’s Creek was the highest for seven years, flooding the Marsden Road area from two to three feet. The water entered about a dozen houses and many gardens are ruined. A car parked near one residence was almost submerged. At Nelson Creek, between Greymouth and Hokitika, the new bridge approach was damaged and the contractor lost much timber.’ The Rewanui Line had further slips. Coal-miners had to return to Greymouth and the mines were idle to-day. On the Omoto Road, the scene of Monday’s big slip, further slight falls occurred and went over the railway line, traffic being delayed up to two hours. This morning the Christchurch express left half an hour late. A later Hokitika message stated that the weather had cleared and the flood damage was not as serious as was at first feared.
