“A NAI ' ION 1S BUILT,” which British Empire Films Pty., Ltd., have brought to New Zealand, is an Australian production of great entertainment value tracing the growth of the great Australian Commonwealth from the barren and unexplored land of the time of Captain Arthur Phillip’s investiture as the first Governor to the present time of thriving industries and enchanting scenic beauty. In brief, it depicts the great miracle that has been wrought in the short space of 150 years. Photography accentuates the beauty of rolling wheat fields and herded sheep. All Australia’s mineral resources take their turn on the reel. The camera dips into the crucible of molten metal, and follows through each interestholding process until the final loading of the refined ingots Into the ships, for export. As well as her many industries, Australia is producing a line, upstanding people of strong physique. Some of her strapping lads are seen parading in surf teams along far-famed Manly beach, before the admiring eyes of . hundreds of onlookers. Australia gives some surprises in this film. One of the most arresting of these is that she possesses some of the finest snowfields in the world. A few thrills are provided by a party of skiers trying their skill (or spill, as the case may be) on the slopes of Mt. Kosciusko.
