Capra Looking For A "Grandpa Deeds"
]?RANK CAPRA, who brought warmhearted young Mr. Deeds to town, is reported to be searching for that lovable youth’s grandfather to play the lead in his next Columbia picture. Grandpa Sycamore, the old codger who sets the pace for the madcap family in “You Can’t Take It With You” could well be considered the grandsire of Deeds,'according to Robert Riskin, who is adapting the Kaufman-Hart Pulitzer prize play to the screen for Capra.
REVIVAL of early Charlie Chaplin comedies, masterpieces of the old “silent” days, has led to the widespread faking of the actor’s films. Film historians say that scores of these revived films arc spurious and that a dozen genuine “old Chaplins’.’ have vanished.
