Wellington Markets Dull METALS ISSUES WEAKER There was a further weakening in metals issues on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday, due to the marked decline in the London base metals market. Broken Hill Proprietary were marked down to 59/6, sellers 60/3, and the 5/- paid to 29/6. Electrolytic Zinc, preference, sold at 46/11. Broken Hill South sold at 31/-, buyers staying in at 30/10, and North Broken Hill were done at 50/3, more being wanted at 49/9. There was no demand for Mount Lyells or Mount MorG. J. Coles sold at 80/6 to 80/3, buyers staying in at the latter price. WoolwOrths, Ltd., ordinaries, sold at 22/-, ex bonus issue, and the second preference went at 28/-. Woolworths (N.Z.) were little changed at 21/9. Government loans "were quiet and unchanged. Banks were weak, no business being reported. Australasias were 1/down at £9/17/- and New South Wales •were wanted at £3l/10/-. New Zealand? were firm at 43/6, but sellers stayed out.
