Basque Refugee Children (British Official Wireless.) (Received March 24, 5 p.m.) Rugby, March 23. Four hundred Basque children, who have been eared for in England for the past nine months, have left London for
Bilbao. The children wore new clothes and carried presents from English friends. They are to be accompanied to the international village at Iron by the Basque Children Committee s representatives. All the 400 children have been in regular correspondence with their families while in England. More than 1800 children have now been repatriated but 2000 still remain in Britain. Their parents are still in danger zones. In accordance with instructions from the British Government, the British agent at Salamanca has informed the Spanish Nationalist authorities that the British Government, considering all the evidence, holds the Nationalist authorities responsible for the sinking of the British steamer Endymion, and accordingly reserves the right to claim full compensation.
