YESTERDAY’S WEATHER

Wellington.— Cloudy to overcast and rather cool in the morning. There was a little light rain and a light breeze from the north-east. The minimum temperature during Tuesday night was 55.1 degrees, and the maximum temeprature yesterday was 67.6 degrees. The temperature at 3.30 p.m. was 66.2 degrees, and the barometer reading was 30.272 inches. w Palnferston North.— Grey and overcast skies covered the city in the morning, and there were occasional light showers of rain; temperatures rather cool, with practically no breeze. The afternoon was brighter, with patches of blue sky. • . ~ Masterton.— lntermittent ram overnight and during day. Cooler temperatures. Wanganui.— Showery in the morning, with light and variable winds; overcast in the afternoon, with a light southerly breeze. Sea smooth on Wanganui bar. Warmer temperatures. At 4 p.m. the barometer was steady at 30.34 inches. New Plymouth.— Overcast, close_ and humid; no wind. Barometer at 5 p.m. 30.25 inches. Waipukurau.— Dull and threatening, but warm, with a maximum temperature of 71 degrees. Napier and Hastings.— Dull and overcast, with light rain and no wind. Temperatures continue to be cooler. Auckland.— Fine, with clouds, and a moderate wind from the east-north-east. 'The maximum temperature was 76 degrees, The barometer was high and steady, the 5 p.m. reading being 30.20 inches. Christchurch. — Fine but overcast, with a moderate north-east breeze. The maximum temperature was 63 degrees. The barometer fell slightly, and registereel 30.23 inches at 5 p.m. Dunedin.—Almost a complete absence of wind, with only occasional overclouding of a light nature, made conditions pleasant. What breeze there was came from the south-east, and the maximum temperature was 62 degrees. The barometer fell during the day from 30.37 inches at 8 a.m. to 30.30 inches 0t.6 pan.
