Herr Himmler, the chief of Germany's secret police, photographed among some of his men. When Herr Himmler went to Vienna and took charge of police affairs after the absorption of the Republic into Germany, he was accompanied by a large body of these men, known as the Schutzstaffel (S.S.) Black Guard.
