WOMEN’S CRICKET

Special Matches Final arrangements were completed by the executive of the 'Wellington Women’s Cricket Association this week for the Palmerston North team’s visit, and it was reported that the Wellington junior representatives would be selected from: M. Smith, P. Pilcher, J. Dixon, P. Marshall, A. Saunders, M. Rountree, B. Eames, White, M. Burt, P. Murdock, J. Oxley, J. Silt, R. Dumbleton and E. Jorgenson. The visitors will arrive at 10 a.m. on Saturday and the match will commence at 1 p.m. The umpires will be Messrs. A. Tidman and S. Moulder. A match, umpires v. the executive, which should also create some interest, will be played on the other wicket at Prince of Wales Park. The following will represent the umpires:—Messrs. F. J. Hatcher, A. Looner, T. Miller, J. Poultor, A. Lake, J. Rogerson, C. G. Wilson, F. Sampson, W. R. Cooke, A. Murphy, W. J. Terry. The executive team will be: I. Pickering, J. Stenberg, A. Lawson, N. Sheridan, W. Tasker, D. Simons, E. Daniells, J. Holmes, J. Hatcher, H. Buck, and E. Page. Messrs. A. Ell and D, Hatcher will be umpires. Arrangements were also made for the visit to Auckland, when Wellington will make its third bid for the Hallyburton-Johnston Shield. The team will leave at 7.40 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, and return on Tuesday, April 18.

A seven-a-side tournament will be held on Saturday, April 2, and should prove a fitting wind-up to the season. The executive has reluctantly abandoned the banquet this season. A special general meeting will be held on April 5.
