BRITISH LOCOMOTIVES
Nine Ordered By Dominion An order lias been placed by the New Zealand Government Railways with a British engineering firm for seven shunting locomotives, each to weigli in working order 15 tons and to develop approximately 93 to 120 horse-power. Advice of this has been received by the British Trade Commissioner from the Department of Overseas Trade. The engines for these units will be fitted in New Zealand. The mechanical parts of the locomotives will include hydraulic couplings, gear-boxes, bevel reverse units, and jack shaft final drive. The same firm has also received an order from the New Zealand Government Railways for two shunting locomotives with 75 h.p. petrol engines and to weigh in working order approximately nine tons. These locomotives are a repeat order on that for six already supplied by this firm to the same administration.
