ADMINISTRATION OF EDUCATION
Critic Of Proposed Changes By Telegraph—Press Association Dunedin, March 23. Criticism of the Education Amendment Bill was made by Mr. Marlow, ehairman of the management board of the King Edward Technical College, who said that at present the board of managers controlled the largest school in Otago with 'JOO day and 1200 night scholars. Under the provisions of the Bill the college would come under the jurisdiction of the Education Board, which would make all appointments. That provision should work very well as far as the day school was concerned, Mr. Marlow thought, but. he doubted the wisdom of giving the education board power to appoint teachers for engineering and other mechanical subjects of the night classes. "Any lowering of the standard of tuition must tend to irn-' pair the technical education of our youth,” he said.
