STREET NAMES AND SIGNS
Comment At Ratepayers’ Meeting "At Hataitai the highways used to beall roads —except for one terrace and one avenue. Recently the city engineer’s department began putting up notices, and I see they have changed all the roads into streets. I don’t know whether it is on account of the tarsealing or what,” said Mr. G. I’. Anderson, Hataitai, at a meeting of representatives of Wellington suburban ratepayers’ associations last night. He remarked that the question of street nomenclature was one which might well occupy the attention of a central committee of suburban ratepayers’ and electors’ associations, if such a committee were formed.
"The question of street names in Wellington certainly requires attention,” said Mr. C. P. S. Boyer, also of Hataitai. “One should be able to know where to look for a sign. Half the time one spends searching for a signboard —that’s no good. It’s a subject that could well be considered.”
