YESTERDAY’S WEATHER

Wellington.—Overcast and threatening in the morning, but fine in the afternoon, and there -were brief intervals of sunshine. A cold south-easterly breeze prevailed'. The minimum temperature on Monday night was 50.1 degrees, and the maximum yesterday 60.9. At 3.00 p.m. the temperature was 59 degrees, and the barometer reading 30.357 inches. Palmerston North. —Rather • cooler temperatures, with a leaden sky, light showers of rain, and a north-easterly breeze. Masterton.—Almost continuous rain. Light southerly wind. Mild temperaWanganui.—Overcast and showery all day, with heavy rain in the afternoon, and a strong south-easterly wind; considerable swell at Wanganui Heads; cooler temperatures. At 7 p.m. the barometer was steady at 30.34 incnes. New Plymouth.—Showers in the early morning, and overcast during the day, with occasional showers. Close and humid. Barometer at 5 p.m. 30.-0 inches. . , ... Waipukurau,—Rain fell during the night, followed by a much colder day _ and frequent rain showers. The maximum temperature was 61 degrees. Napier and Hastings.—Overcast and dull, with continual light rain and cool peratures. A light south-easterly breeze. , Auckland.—Humid weather with clouds and 'a light northerly wind. The day maximum temperature was, 81 degree., and the barometer was high and steady, the reading at 5 p.m. being 30.25 inches. , Christchurch. —Fine but cloudy, and fairly cool, with a maximum temperature of 60.8 degrees. A light southwest wind later changed to east-nortli-east, and became stronger. The barometer was falling slowly at a p.m.. when the reading was 30.390 inches. Dunedin.—A cold north-easterly breeze ot moderate strength prevailed, and this combined with the fact that the sky was overcast for the greater part ot the day, kept the maximum temperature down to 58 degrees. The barometer remained fairly steady at about 29.95 inches.
