FORECAST FOR TO-DAY/S WEATHER.

Cloudy And With Scattered Showers, But Soon Improving. Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meterological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending to-day A rather intense anti-cyclone covers the south Tasman Sea and southern New Zealand with the highest pressure east of the South Island. The forecast is for south-easterly winds at first from Nelson and Marlborough northward, but backing gradually to east and north-east, and north-easterlies prevailing elsewhere; force strong at first in parts of the Cook Strait area, but otherwise light to moderate. Seas rather rough to rough about Cook Strait, but moderating and elsewhere slight to moderate. < Light to moderate east to north winds and smooth to moderate seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather cloudy and with scattered showers at first over much of the North Island, and especially between Cook Strait and East Cape, but soon improving and elsewhere fair to fine. Temperatures cool.
