HOMING PIGEONS

Young Bird Championship The Wellington Homing Pigeon Society held its young bird flock .championship race from National Park recently. The distance is 150 miles airline. Thirteen pigeons were liberated by the stationmaster under ideal conditions. A very close race resulted as follows :— F. Flipp and Son’s 'b.c.h.. 107-37, 1385yds. per min;, 7 points; N. Boyd and Son’s-b.c.h., 299—37, 1376.3yd5. per min., 6 points; D. Perkin’s, blk. c., 401-37, 1376.2yd5, per min., .5 points; C. Webster and Son’s b.c.c., 175-37, 1370ydt?. per min., 4 points; J. Orr’s b.cJi., 1369.1yd5. per min.. 3 points; F. Couper and Son’s b.c.h,, 100-37, 1366.3yd5. per min., 2 points. The winner holds the McArdle trophy donated for the young bird championship by Mr. McArdle, Lower Hutt.
