The Associated Banks (other than the Bank of New South Wales) quoted the following dollar rates yesterday on a New Zealand currency basis. They are subject to alteration without notice.

N.Z. Pound Abroad Based on figures quoted by the Bank of New South Wales, the New Zealand pound, compared with its original par value, is equivalent to approximately:— 16/1 in London. £l/0/1 in Australia. 16/4} in U.S.A. 16/5 in Canada. £l/0/101 in Erance. 16/4} in Italy. 0/8 in Germany. 11/10 in Java. £l/8/2} in Japan. , N.Z. Crown Mines Dividend By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, March 22. Gabled advice has been received by the local attorney, Mr. J. H. G. Banks, for the New Zealand Crown Mines Company, that at the annual meeting to be held in London on March 30, the directors will recommend a dividend of 3d. per share (less English income tax at 3/- in i-be £) in respect of the year ended December 31, 1937. The rate is unchanged, but last year income tax was at 4/9 in. the £.
