CONTRACT WORKERS’ STRIKE
Men Engaged On Road Construction By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, March 22. Although advised by their own union to return, to work to-day, 60 contract workers engaged on the Waitati-Leith Valley Road scheme who refused to work on Monday because of allegedly wrong measuring up of the amount of work done did not resume their duties. The Public Works Department also advised the men to return to work, and in the meantime its engineers are investigating the position. The men showed little change in their determination to continue their strike, and a complete deadlock was reached to-day.
