PROPOSAL RESENTED
Abolition Of Boards Of Governors A conference of boards of governors to discuss the Education Bill has been arranged to take place at Wellington College, commencing on April 1. The Bill proposes to abolish all existing boards of governors and establish in their place a central board to act under the Education Department, each existing board to be allowed to nominate two members to the central one. Members of the various boards, many of whom have served long and faithfully, resent the proposal, as they
consider that such a change in the administration will do much to eliminate local pride and interest in individual schools and colleges. It is understood that board members from all parts of the Dominion will attend the conference.
