DEFENCE POLICY
Town Hall Meeting In the troubled conditions which exist in the world to-day, with most of the nations engaged in a race for armaments, it is felt that there never was a time when it was more necessary for New -Zealand to consider her own safety. In order to give expression to this widely-held opinion a public meeting, convened by the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Defence League, will be held in the Town Hall to-morrow night, when the mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, will preside, and the Hon. W. Perry, M.L.C., Dominion president of the league, will deliver an address.
It is hoped that all who have the country’s welfare at heart will attend. The league is strictly non-party, and it is hoped by holding the meeting to strengthen the Government’s hands in making more adequate provision for the defence of the country. The Port Nicholson Silver Baud will play popular selections in the hall from 7.30 p.m.
