BRIDGE EVENINGS
Nurses' Memorial Fund For Miss Pattrick In order to raise funds for a memorial to the late Miss Ann formerly director of Plunket nursing, the Wellington branch of the Registered Nurses’ Association and the Plunket nurses combined in organising two bridge evenings, which were held in the Plunket nurses’ rooms in Kent Terrace on Friday and Saturday evenings of last week. Bowls of hydrangeas, dahlias, zinnias, and gladioli decorated the three rooms that were used. Most of the guests . played bridge, but a certain number on both nights preferred to play monopoly. Supper was served and prizes were given for the highest score and for a hidden number. Much of the china and the chairs were lent by the Red Cross Society and permission for the use of the rooms was given by Mrs. Jowett, president of the Plunket Society, who was among those present on tlie first night. Among those who arranged tables were Miss J. Willis, Miss M, Lambie, Miss J. Bicknell, Miss McClure, Mrs. Laurie, Miss Kohn, Miss I. Mcßae, Miss M. Chalmers, Miss E. Pengelly, Miss B. Clark and sisters of the Wellington Hospital, Miss Templeton and the Karitane nurses, Miss Joyce and the nurses of St. Helens Hospital, Miss Margaret .McKenzie mid nurses of the Hobson Street Private Hospital, Miss J. Mackersey, Miss A. Searell, Miss Clialiee Hooper, Mrs. Masters. The nurses hope to raise a large sum of money so that they will be able to establish a fitting memorial in connection witli the work of the Karitane Hospital, and there will probably be other opportunities later for those who have benelited from the. work of Miss Pattriek to show their gratitude.
