WAR VETERAN’S FUNERAL
A parade of South African War veterans under Captain J. J. Clark, president of the Wellington South African Mar Veterans’ Association, attended the funeral of Mr. Walter Barrell on Ihursday. Mr. J. I. Goldsmith represented the president of the Dominion association. Mr. Barrell served in the hirst Dorsetshire Regiment. , , ~ n The associations padre. Rev. D. V. Bates, officiated at the service at the mortuary chapel and also at the graveside. The ‘cortege at the cemetery was headed bv Piper Angus Graham, who also played the lament “Flowers of the Forest, lhe casket was draped with the Union Jack and the South African War veterans tin", and members of the M elhngton association act ed as p-ill-bearerS. ,ter Trumpet-major F. U. Chegwin had sounded the “Last Post,” those present filed past the grave and deposited a south African daisy.
