NAZIS’ EFFORTS
Hope To Shake Courage Of Chancellor London, March 10. Tlie Vienna correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says that Nazis today created pandemonium in the centre of the city in the hope of shaking Dr. Schuschnigg’s courage. The Kaerntnerstrasse and the neighbourhood of the Opera House were the scenes of indescribable disorder. Police to-night closed the whole of the inner city. The Government has decided to take strong measures against outbreaks tomorrow. The Vienna correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says that. Dr. Schuschnigg conferred with Dr. Inquart, who is reported to have threatened to resign unless the plebiscite is called off and more Nazis included in the Cabinet. The Vienna correspondent of “The Times” says that Dr. Schuschnigg said: “Threats and attempts at intimidation which are being made here and there under the cloak of patriotic sentiment cannot be tolerated. They would disturb the peace. I cannot demand that my friends keep quiet if the other side does not keep exactly the letter and the spirit of what has been agreed and made known.”
