YESTERDAY’S WEATHER
4-. Wellington.— Brilliantly fine iu the early morning, with a little wind. From 10.30 a.m. the wind gradually freshened from the south-south-east, and the sky clouded over. The temperature fell sharply. The minimum temperature during Thursday night was 55.1 degrees, and the maximum yesterday was 69.1 degrees. The temperature at 3.30 p.m. was 56.1 degrees, and the barometer reading was then 30.0891 n. Palmerston North.— Fine and sunny, with passing clouds; warm temperatures, and a light westerly breeze. Masterton.— Sunny in the morning, but overcast, with a light southerly breeze in the afternoon. Wanganui.—A fine autumn day ; a fresh southerly wind, bright sunshine, passing cloud, and cool temperatures. Slight swell on Wanganui bar. At 4 p.m. the barometer was steady at 30.02 inches. New Plymouth.— Cooler temperatures in the morning and evening, and bright sunshine throughout. the day, with a light north-easterly -breeze. The barometer at 5 p.m. read 30.00 inches. Waipukurau.— Perfect day with brilliant sunshine; maximum temperature 77 degrees. Napier and Hastings.—A glorious sunny morning, but the afternoon was overcast, with a strong south-west wind. Auckland A cool south-west wind blew all day, the maximum temperature being 72 degrees, and the minimum 64 degrees. Skies were cloudy, with clear intervals. The barometer had a falling tendency, the reading being 30.00 inches at 5 p.m. Christchurch.-— Cooler, and though the suu shone intermittently, the sky became overcast toward evening. There was a fresh breeze from the southwest. The maximum temperature was 61.6 degrees. The barometer rose slowly, the 5 p.m. reading being 30.149 inches. Dunedin.— Fine, with a cloudy eky and a cool breeze from the north-east. The sun shone intermittently, and the temperature reached a maximum of 66 degrees. The barometer rose steadily to 30.28 inches.
